Mounties Beaten, 3-2, by San Francisco
|
The San Francisco Earthquakes topped the Montreal Mounties, 3-2, in Thurman Munson League action at Golden Gate Park. The standout performance belonged to San Francisco pitcher and Savaneta, Aruba, native Bradley Bethlehem. In 5.1 innings, Bethlehem surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The win makes San Francisco 55-65.
Carlos Aispuro had a big run-scoring double for the Earthquakes in the bottom of the fifth inning. With San Francisco leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a knuckleball from Brad Steck, who is tied for 5th in the TML with a 3.68 ERA, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 41st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Earthquakes ahead, 3-1.
"It was just a matter of executing," said San Francisco manager Bill DesMarais.
