Late Offense Lifts Peoria to 4-2 Victory
|
Billings got a valiant performance from pitcher Jason Martin, but it wasn't enough to beat the Peoria Caterpillars. Peoria won the game, 4-2. Martin threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Peoria reliever Chris Schurman picked up the win, raising his record to 6-1. Jeremy Balla was tagged with the loss. Mike Kalk picked up his 5th save of the season.
Juan Lopez came through with a big-time hit for Peoria. The right fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Lopez told the Peoria Herald.
The Caterpillars are now 84-75, while the Mustangs fall to 57-102.
