The El Paso Mavericks weathered a fine game by Kansas City second baseman Devin Spang to upend the Tornadoes, 7-6, at The Corral. Spang slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Dennis Krupski came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-1. Morgan Henn closed the game out for El Paso, earning his 23rd save.

The Mavericks got a big at-bat from catcher Jack Harrigan. For the game, Harrigan was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave El Paso a 5-4 lead.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Harrigan. "It sure beats the alternative."

The Mavericks win now puts them at 66-51.
