River Bandits Best Warriors in Pitching Duel
|
Dr Pepper Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Moose Jaw Warriors and San Antonio River Bandits.
In a low-scoring tilt between the San Antonio River Bandits and the Moose Jaw Warriors, 19-year old right-handed pitcher Leo Mejia was the difference-maker. The San Antonio right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Mejia, the winner, moves to 7-9. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. Justin Walsh was credited with the save for San Antonio, his 1st of the season.
In the bottom of the third, Jeff Eaton delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and a runner on 2nd, the San Antonio third baseman hit a run-scoring single, putting the River Bandits in front, 2-1.
"The object of the game is to score more runs than they do," said Eaton. "Mission accomplished."
The loss makes Moose Jaw 88-67.
