The El Paso Mavericks defeated the Havana Stogies, 5-3, at The Corral. Noah Chadick was a standout performer for El Paso. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. The Mavericks improved their record to 53-60 with the win over Havana.
Had Alex Velasco not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Velasco hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Mavericks.
"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Taylor Hillary.
