Nelson has 3 hits to Power Wolverines Offense

The Wichita Wolverines beat the Silicon Valley Hackers, 6-2, at San Jose Municipal Stadium. Wichita designated hitter Dave Nelson led the way. He was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The Wolverines raised their record to 61-96.
Nelson had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Ron Williams, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Wolverines a 4-2 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Nelson.
Wichita manager Abel Keller was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
