Yuma Edges Larvae, 8-7, Vazquez Clutch
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Yuma Varmits eventually prevailed.
Tony Vazquez was a major contributor to the 8-7 Yuma win over The Stinging. The Varmits designated hitter was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The Varmits, at 73-75, inhabit 5th place in the TML R Otto Velez Division.
The game was all tied up in the bottom of the eighth, until Vazquez delivered big-time for Yuma, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Pedro Rojas. The game-changing hit put the Varmits on top, 8-7.
Vazquez told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
