Warriors Clip Gremlins, 2-1, in R3 Contest
|
In a crucial game, the Walnut Creek Warriors put on their best show, beating the Houghton Gremlins by a final score of 2-1. Jeromir Hamrlik threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Walnut Creek and Houghton are now tied at 3 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
Matt Saxton, who led the RCL in doubles with 54 in 2062, helped out the Walnut Creek cause in the bottom of the eighth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.
"We're happy," Saxton told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Castlerock Field in Walnut Creek.
