5-3 Savannah Loss Tarnishes Shields's Fine Effort
The Normal Nutcrackers weathered an outstanding game by Savannah designated hitter Brian Shields to topple the Peaches, 5-3. Shields belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Tony Amaro was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 3 save opportunities. The Nutcrackers sit in 5th place in the TML R Fred McGriff Division with a record of 51-71.

Wilson Franco hit a 2-run home run off Omar Gomez in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Nutcrackers ahead, 5-3. In addition to the homer, Franco had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
