Caribou Spellbound, O'Connor Hurls No-Hitter
|
In a dominant outing, Travis O'Connor of the Victoria Totems totally silenced the bats of the Frobisher Bay Caribou, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the Totems' 2-0 victory, O'Connor faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 10 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Victoria manager Albert Giles said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Ron Verity told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Totems had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, O'Connor pitched a heck of a ballgame."
His record this season is 5-2 in 9 starts and O'Connor has a 2.11 ERA.
