Caribbean beat Syracuse at Castro Field, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to center fielder Salvador Tobon. He was 1-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. The winner in relief was Sal Penalosa. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-4. The setback makes Syracuse 40-16.

The game was decided with two out in the bottom of the ninth. With Caribbean trailing 5-3, Tobon jumped on a fastball from 18-year old right-handed pitcher Mario Herrera and hit a 3-run home run to center. With one swing, the Commies had a walk-off win.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Tobon said.
