Vazquez, on Top of His Game, Beats Paradise Island, 7-0 Friday, August 15th , 2064 The Paradise Island Pirates were almost helpless in their 7-0 loss to the Coronado Islanders and hurler Jordan Vazquez. Vazquez kept the Pirates confused all game, spinning a 5-hit shutout. "Tip your hat to Vazquez," Paradise Island manager Jorge Ávila said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night." The 19-year-old right-hander had 1 walk and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance. "It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Vazquez said.
