League Suspends Falconi and Beato for Brawl
Friday, August 31st , 2063
Yesterday at Denis Coderre Stadium David Falconi and Manny Beato got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Cooperstown Legends and Montreal Cardinals. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game.
Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Falconi will have to sit out 3 while Beato would be given a 7-game suspension for their roles in the brawl.
This year, Falconi has batted at a .144 pace with 27 hits, 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and scored 10 times.
So far this year, Beato has made 8 starts, tossed 49.1 innings, struck out 45 batters and walked 33. His record is 3-2 with a 4.56 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .280 batting average.
