Top RR Hurler Honors Go to Helmick Friday, October 20th , 2062 The Sylva Miners have a rising superstar or maybe even a budding Hall-of-Famer in the making. It's Brad Helmick, this year's RCL R Cy Young Award selection. This blossoming hurler wowed fans, peers and sportswriters with a fabulous performance. Helmick compiled a 14-2 record in 17 starts, tallied 197 strikeouts in 117.2 innings and recorded a 2.07 ERA. Other clubs managed only a .195 batting average against him. He received 17 first place votes out of a possible 28. Dave Andrews of the Sylva Miners finished second in voting with 11 first place votes, while Carl Long of the Frobisher Bay Caribou finished third.
