Moncrief Boosts Hit Streak to 25 Games
Friday, May 19th , 2062
The streak is alive and well -- at least for today.
Matt Moncrief did it again, bashing 1 hit in the contest at Loggers Ballpark. For the last 25 games in a row, the 16-year-old left fielder has collected at least one hit. His efforts helped the Kearny High Cardinals beat the San Marin Mustangs, 7-4.
"I'm happy I kept the streak going," Moncrief told a standing-room-only crowd of reporters gathered in the Kearny High clubhouse. "Honestly though, I'm looking forward to going home and not thinking about this for the rest of the day." Matt Moncrief walked in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, walked in the 4th, flied out in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th.
This year, Moncrief has collected a .388 batting average to date with 104 hits in 268 at-bats, 80 RBIs, 20 home runs and scored 79 times. He has played in 63 games.
