Mustangs Jay Atkinson Swings Hot Bat, HALL Winner Monday, April 24th , 2062 San Marin fans have something to crow about today as San Marin right fielder Jay Atkinson nabbed the Hank Aaron Little League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Atkinson. He posted a .550 average (11-for-20) this past week with 4 home runs, 14 RBIs, and 8 runs scored. This year, Atkinson has collected a .385 batting average to date with 60 hits in 156 at-bats, 56 RBIs, 14 home runs and scored 41 times. He has played in 42 games. |
