Horne Goes 5-for-5 Against Fresno State
Saturday, April 29th , 2062
After a 5-hit effort to lead Rice's 11-7 victory over the Fresno State Bulldogs, second baseman Micah Horne told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the USA NCAA DIVISION I-level is really something special."
The 20-year-old player earned his accolades at Toughkenamon College Fields with a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Bulldogs.
"His swing is getting there," said Owls skipper Jeff Hulse, who spoke glowingly of Horne after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Micah did that to perfection."
Micah Horne hit a solo-shot off Teddy Healey in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Teddy Healey in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Williams in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Chris Allen in the 8th.
So far this year, Horne is batting .288 with 18 home runs and 40 RBIs.
