3 Roundtrippers for Campos Monday, April 24th , 2062 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Virginia Cavaliers. North Carolina right fielder Ruben Campos tripled up on the home runs to propel the Tar Heels to a win, 12-10, at Bruisers Ballpark. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Virginia manager Vicente Vargas said. "Campos hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Campos collected 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Ruben Campos hit a two-run home run off Bill Oestreich in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Justin Upshur in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Gary Laney in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. This year, Campos is hitting .299 with 17 home runs and 36 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .457 clip and scored 36 runs. |
