Sweet Whacks 3 Out of the Park for Arizona State Saturday, April 15th , 2062 Fans seated in the bleacher section at Ballpark of Aptos Hills-Larkin Valley College were taking cover all day long as Josh Sweet zeroed in on them, rattling three long blasts off the seats in a display of Herculean power. The big game from the Arizona State center fielder helped the Sun Devils take the victory, 12-7, over the Baylor Bears. "I told myself not to press on the last one," he told reporters in the postgame press conference. "I knew I couldn't force it -- it has to be a nice easy swing." For the game, he collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, drove in 6 and scored 3 runs. Josh Sweet struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Steve Thomas in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Ken Licker in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Dave Hughes in the 7th and walked in the 8th. This season, Sweet has hit at a .318 clip with 30 RBIs, 12 home runs and 28 runs scored. He has played in 21 games. |
