Gators Hatchett Smacks 5 Hits
Wednesday, April 5th , 2062
The Florida Gators stopped the Michigan Wolverines by a score of 22-8 at Ballpark of Bismarck College, with the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Joe Hatchett. The 20-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits.
"Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Hatchett said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard."
Hatchett did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Wolverines.
"Not much that I can say," offered Michigan manager Shane Saucier. "He just hammered the heck out of us."
Joe Hatchett hit a solo-shot off Jonathan Fairbanks in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, walked in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jonathan Allen in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
So far this season, Hatchett is batting .373 with 11 home runs, 22 RBIs and 21 runs scored. He has 22 hits in 59 at-bats, 12 walks and a .494 OBP. Hatchett has played in 15 games.
