Hatchett Pounds 3 HR Friday, March 31st , 2062 Joe Hatchett went on an explosive hitting spree against the Virginia Cavaliers at Ballpark of Bismarck College, launching a trio of blasts to help the Florida Gators win, 9-7. The left fielder finished 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 4 runs batted in. "It was just one of those days," Hatchett said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Virginia skipper Vicente Vargas said Hatchett was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Joe Hatchett hit a two-run home run off Jeff Kidd in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jeff Kidd in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, walked in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Doug Decker in the 9th. This season, Hatchett is hitting at a .333 pace with 9 home runs, 14 RBIs and has scored 15 times. |
