Knights Doerr Raps 3 Homers Monday, May 19th , 2064 Ocala Knights catcher Kerry Doerr put on a dazzling display of power at Levitow Park against the San Angelo Mustangs. In the 19-2 Knights victory, Doerr penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," San Angelo manager Luis López said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 22-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 11 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Doerr said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Kerry Doerr hit a three-run home run off Tony Rentas in the 2nd, hit a three-run double in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Ruben Olivares in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Ruben Olivares in the 6th and flied out in the 7th. Currently Doerr is hitting .200 and has collected 5 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 9 times, while playing in 30 games. |
