Big Bang! 3 HR for Moonbeam's Verbeek
Thursday, April 17th , 2064
Moonbeam Martians right fielder Tom Verbeek had a magnificent game against the Carmel Apples, rocketing three balls out of Abbey Stadium to help the Martians win, 13-9.
"I got some good pitches to hit and I creamed them," he said after the game. "The first was a big, fat fastball and the last two were hanging curves. All three were mistakes."
For the game, Verbeek went 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored.
"There's a fine line between hitting home runs and line drives," Moonbeam manager Daniel Wilson said later. "Seems like Tom found his home run stroke today."
Tom Verbeek hit a solo-shot off Tetsuhiro Nitta in the 1st, walked in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Jesus Ortega in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Ethan White in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
This year, Verbeek has hit at a .333 clip with 13 hits, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
