Escamilla Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 21 Wednesday, June 7th , 2062 After 21 games, Doug Escamilla had his hitting streak ended abruptly by the Memphis Blues at Arnold Field. The Oconomowoc Five O's left fielder failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats, bringing his tenure in the national spotlight to a halt. Despite the tough day at the plate, Escamilla seemed unconcerned after the game, talking instead about the Five O's beating the Blues, 18-5. "It was good while it lasted," Escamilla said. "If it had to end, I'm glad it ended with a victory." For the year, Escamilla has hit at a .390 clip with 57 RBIs, 13 home runs and 41 runs scored. |
