Spears Shuts Out Evanston, 4-0 Sunday, July 15th , 2063 John Spears kept the Evanston Bishops hitters from doing much damage at The Studio. Evanston could only muster 2 hits and draw 3 walks against the right-handed Spears, who controlled them throughout the game. Boston won the contest, 4-0. Spears added 6 strikeouts in his complete-game effort. "I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Spears told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time." Spears has gone 9-7 this season with an ERA of 4.11 and 100 strikeouts in 133.2 innings pitched. Other clubs are hitting .256 against him.
