Alfonso Belts Bunch of Base Hits Saturday, April 29th , 2062 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-7 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Manny Alfonso, it came around today. The 23-year-old catcher scattered hits all over Mitts Fieldhouse to pace the 5-4 Marysville Monarchs victory over the Frisco Rams. Frisco skipper Joe Renken told reporters in the press room that "Alfonso deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Alfonso hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Manny Alfonso singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, flied out in the 12th and hit a solo-shot off Danny Robinson in the 14th.
