Hernandez Hitless, Stopped by Jazz Saturday, September 3rd , 2061 The Kansas City Tornadoes lost to the Montreal Jazz, 6-4, at Debris Field, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Mike Hernandez's 27-game hitting streak. The left fielder went 0-for-4 on the day. "We felt if we could slow down Hernandez, we would win the game," Jazz manager Pedro Gonzáles explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down." For the year, Hernandez is batting .347 with 13 home runs. |
