Jazz Blank Earthquakes, Hickey Winner Wednesday, May 25th , 2061 Sam Hickey was throwing strikes early and getting ahead in the count, his manager said after the Montreal Jazz hurler tossed a 5-hit, complete game shutout against the San Francisco Earthquakes. "I went right after each hitter, trying to get ahead in the count," said Hickey. "I wanted them to swing the bats and keep my pitch count down. It worked. I felt strong the whole game, even in the last two innings." Hickey walked 1 and struck out 7 in the 8-0 victory. This year, Hickey has posted a 4-1 mark in 10 starts and has a 2.74 ERA.
