5-for-5 Game for Mendosa
Tuesday, October 3rd , 2062
Today at The Pyramid, Benito Mendosa put on an impressive display.
The Cairo Pharaohs shortstop tagged Mexico City pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on the spree and lost the game to the Mexico City Luchadores by the score of 6-5.
"The loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it," Mendosa said. "5-for-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, the Pharaohs manager was unwilling to offer the shortstop much praise, saying the "whole roster" is held accountable for losses.
"Benito told me 'Coach, I had 5 hits' and I said 'Well that's great, but it looks like we needed one more from you,'" manager Johnny Vallance said.
Benito Mendosa hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year, Mendosa is hitting at a .248 pace with 12 home runs and 53 RBIs. He has played in 143 games and scored 48 times.
