Earthquakes Leeney Booms 3 HRs Monday, May 22nd , 2062 The old superstition that "bad news comes in threes" certainly came true for the Maple Marauders. San Francisco right fielder Junior Leeney tripled up on the home runs to propel the Earthquakes to a win, 8-6, at Magnificent Marauders Mansion. "We had our chances to win the game, but we just didn't come through," Maple manager Aubert Licci said. "Leeney hit the heck out of the ball." In addition to the homers, Leeney collected 3 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and scored 3 runs. "Easy swings get you home runs," he said after the game. "I kept telling myself not to press. They have to be nice and easy swings." Junior Leeney hit a solo-shot off Luther Bonnefoy in the 1st, flied out in the 3rd, flied out in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Dennis Krupski in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off Pete Redden in the 9th. Currently Leeney is hitting .322 and has collected 15 home runs, 51 RBIs and scored 38 times, while playing in 45 games. |
