Cardinals Get Hard-Earned Win
Bill Squarebriggs propelled his team to victory over the San Marin Mustangs. The final score was 4-3, Montreal. Montreal reliever Tom Plante snagged the win, upping his record to 4-2. Brad Walley shouldered the loss. John Connors got the save, the 7th for him this season.

Montreal used the timely hitting of George Saslove to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cardinals on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

After the game, Montreal manager Tim Graham applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.

Montreal now sports a record of 20-21.
