Rutland got a terrific game from designated hitter Cris Garcia. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Riverside, 10-6. Garcia was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Riverside is in 4th place in the Hank Aaron Little League Bob Gibson Division with a record of 19-20.

Riverside used a well-timed hit by Malachi Wichert to capture the win. The first baseman socked a run-scoring double in the top of the first inning to put the Poly ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

Wichert said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
