The Trojans had to overcome a fine performance from George Washington pitcher Jamie Pickering to grab a 2-1 win at Osprey Ballpark. Pickering allowed no earned runs over 5.1 innings. Kyle Hruska got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 hits and no runs, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Earning his 7th save of the year was Miguel Piedra.
Josh Anderson did the little things right to help the team for Terra Linda. With two out and the game tied in the top of the fifth inning, Anderson, who is the 3rd-best prospect in the Trojans organization, had a clutch at-bat. Facing George Washington hurler Jamie Pickering, he reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead.
In postgame comments to the Terra Linda Daily News, Anderson said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Terra Linda is now 16-19, George Washington 21-14.
