Poly Win in Extras, 7-3
|
The Riverside Poly topped the Seminole Warhawks by a score of 7-3 in 14 innings. Leading the way was left fielder Ron Sliger. Sliger belted 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Poly. Riverside reliever Nick Hines picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tom Stewart took the loss. The 4th-place Poly have a record of 16-16.
Sliger had a game-changing home run in the top of the 14th. On a 2-0 fastball from John Burkhardt, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Poly a 7-3 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Sliger.
"Tough ballgame, tough loss," said Seminole manager Parker Harder.
