Loss Tarnishes Fine Performance by Califano
Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Everett Califano, the Tioga Central Tigers lost to the Derby Panthers, 13-9. Califano was 4-5 with 2 home runs and a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Derby is now 15-15, while Tioga Central is 11-19.

With one out in the bottom of the third, Jared Canter put Derby in front, 3-0, with a 2-run single. The Panthers went on to win the ballgame.

"It was great to come out and swing the bats," Canter told the Derby Herald.
