Falcons Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Frontance Falcons topped the San Marin Mustangs, 7-3, with youngster Jake Van Zile playing a key role. Van Zile went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Falcons in the win. Roland Harrington earned the win to go to 2-0. He allowed 3 earned runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. The save was credited to Ben Wheeler, his 12th.
Frontance used the timely hitting of Jim Arnold to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Falcons on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Arnold.
Frontance has now won 3 in a row.
