Patriots Score Late to Nip Tigers, 7-6
|
The Tioga Central Tigers got a sterling performance from pitcher Jermaine Markey, but the George Washington Patriots still prevailed, 7-6. Markey threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. George Washington reliever John Crumbo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bobby Richey was saddled with the loss. The Patriots sit in second place in the Pete Rose Little League Roger Clemens Division with a record of 17-11.
George Washington got a knockout punch from Brian Bowman. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"The fans went nuts at the end," Bowman said.
