The Tokyo Yakult Swallows bested the Yokohama Bay Stars by a score of 12-2, with left fielder Enrique Castro getting the main credit. On the day, Castro went 3-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 2 for the Swallows. Fumio Okada got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 12 and walking 3. The Swallows now own a record of 9-7.

The Swallows beat the Bay Stars in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Kenishi Matsuoka produced in the bottom of the third. Batting against Yokohama pitcher Yoshikuni Yamaguchi, Matsuoka gave his team a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.

Castro told a Tokyo Yakult Herald reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
