Butterflies 7-3 Winners Over Manhattan
|
The Pennsylvania Butterflies beat the Manhattan Slice, 7-3. Pennsylvania pitcher and Middletown, Ohio, native Sam Mikolajczyk led the way. Mikolajczyk, the winner, moves to 5-2. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 1 walk. Pennsylvania, at 42-26, holds down first place in the Roberto Clemente League Mike Brouillette Division.
The Butterflies got a big at-bat from left fielder Bobby Shaw. For the game, Shaw went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 17th double of the season gave Pennsylvania a 4-1 lead.
"That was a really good outing by Sam," said Pennsylvania manager Aaron Barnes.
