Taoka has 3 hit night as Lions Squeeze Past Tohoku Rakuten
Saitama Seibu beat Tohoku Rakuten at Field of the Chariots, escaping with a 5-4 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Teiji Taoka, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Hyoji Ikeda earned the win to go to 3-2. He allowed 4 earned runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Saitama Seibu is now 11-12.

An important at-bat for Saitama Seibu came with one out in the bottom of the sixth. With the bases loaded, Taoka drew a walk, driving in 1 run, which contributed to the Lions win.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Tohoku Rakuten manager Gabriel McKinnes said following the tough loss.
