The Eureka Hornets pinned a convincing loss on the Hawaii Honu, 10-1, at The Nest. Robby Helt was a main factor in the win. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for Eureka. The winner was Bobby Loscalzo, who threw 116 pitches over 7 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 8 hits. Eureka is now 51-28, 4½ games up in the Roberto Clemente League Central Division.
Benny Rodriguez had a big 2-run home run for the Hornets in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Eureka leading 3-1 and a runner on 3rd, he sized up a fastball from Chris Sweeney, who led the RCL in wins with 20 in 2060, and punished it. The result was his 9th home run of the season, which put the Hornets on top, 5-1.
Hawaii manager Naoki Okada called the blowout loss "nothing to write home about."
