The Maple Marauders knocked off the Montreal Mounties, 10-5, at Mount Royal Grounds. John Conner was a big reason Maple won. The right fielder was 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Reliever Eric Strief picked up the win. His record improves to 3-3. Sandy Briseno took the loss. The Marauders now own a record of 33-44.

Maple used a well-timed hit by Barry Freeman to capture the win. The second baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Marauders ahead, 4-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Freeman, "one at-bat at a time."
