Texans Prevail, 7-5, Over Pennsylvania
|
The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
Tony Curiel knocked in 3 runs to help Dallas beat Pennsylvania, 7-5. The left fielder collected 1 single, 1 double, and 1 home run. Mike Boyle, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-4. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Chris Nugent closed it out for his 11th save.
The Texans got a big at-bat from third baseman Orlando Huerfano. For the game, Huerfano was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Dallas a 6-2 lead.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Dallas manager Gary Stoy.
Dallas is 5th in the Roberto Clemente League Mike Brouillette Division with a record of 30-36.
