Mexico City Hot Streak Continues with 5-0 Win
|
The Mexico City Luchadores went home winners at Golden Goebels Park, thanks in large part to starter Alberto Candelaria. Candelaria stifled the Houghton Gremlins, enabling Mexico City to grab the 5-0 win. The winning pitcher was Candelaria, now 3-3. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 3. The Luchadores have now reeled off 7 straight wins.
Eddie Escobar had a big 2-run home run for the Luchadores in the top of the third inning. With Mexico City leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a curveball from Trace Yeadon, who finished 2nd in the RCL in wins with 16 last year, and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Luchadores on top, 3-0.
"Winning breeds more winning, I guess," said Escobar.
