Eclipse Clip Hornets, 2-1, in R1 Contest
|
The Chicago Eclipse went the distance and then some at The Nest to drag themselves back into a tie with the Eureka Hornets.
It took 10 innings to settle Game 2 of the Round 1, but Chicago eventually took the 2-1 win behind the efforts of pitcher Brendan Tucker. Tucker threw 8.0 innings of 6-hit ball to aid the Chicago cause. The clubs are now tied 1-1 in their best-of-7 series.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Miguel Benavides? The 25-year old left fielder Benavides stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Chicago up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Benavides. "And not try to do too much."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 14th , 2064 at Millennium Field in Chicago.
