Jones Lauded as Mounties Defeat Millers, 8-2
The exploits of first baseman Jared Jones, who finished 3rd in the TML in extra base hits with 86 last year, helped the Montreal Mounties defeat the Milwaukee Millers, 8-2. Jones went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winning pitcher was 34-year old right-handed pitcher Eddie Galloza. He tossed 85 pitches over 8 innings, allowing 1 run on 8 hits. Montreal is now 38-26, Milwaukee 36-27.

Montreal used a well-timed hit by Bob Lamanske to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put the Mounties ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
