Aloha Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Hawaii Honu and Manhattan Slice.

Hawaii pitcher Sal Alvarado did his part in helping his team beat the Manhattan Slice, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Tom Mitcham got credit for the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings.

Had Paul Cavanaugh not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Cavanaugh hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Honu.

"We busted our tails," said Manhattan manager Giampaolo Marcovicci. "But we came up short."

The Slice have now dropped 5 straight.
