The Hawaii Honu did just enough to sneak past the Dallas Texans, 5-4, at Aloha Stadium. Hawaii pitcher Chris Sweeney, in particular, had a standout performance. Sweeney, now 4-10, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 2, and allowing 4 runs. Picking up the save was Karl Molnar, his 17th.

Hawaii took a 5-3 lead on Aaron Gross's 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Gross hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Dallas pitcher Matt Lopas visibly frustrated.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Sweeney.

The defeat makes Dallas 30-43.
