Jose del Real was superb against Maple. The right-hander, who is tied for 9th in the RCL in wins with 6, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Mounties victory. The score was 6-3. Bill Wolfe finished to wrap up his 14th save. The Mounties, at 39-35, sit in third place in the Roberto Clemente League International Division.

Had Michael Morley not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Morley hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Mounties.

"Jose gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Montreal skipper Thomas Hughes.
