Jazz Suffer One-Run Loss at Quebec
|
The Quebec Armada beat the West Island Jazz, 2-1, at Lucky 7 Ballpark. Starting pitcher Tim Jones was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Jones, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 3 walks. West Island, with the loss, is still a stout 6-2.
Fernando Puente had a big run-scoring double for the Armada in the bottom of the second inning. With Quebec leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Ken Aubin and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Armada ahead, 2-0.
"Tim did a nice job," said Armada manager Ramu Pavi.
